Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our artists at Rising Dragon bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom design is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As the best tattoo shop in New York NY, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make certain customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. There’s typically some pain involved, but the body additionally releases endorphins to compensate. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This is why legs and arms are perfect options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you’ll need for the best tattoo shop in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
