Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Our studio has called the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

Questions concerning what kind of pain you can expect are what we get often as a tattoo shop in NYC. Our artists don’t simply perform amazing work but also work hard to ensure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they have a better ability to absorb a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are great options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to require for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
