Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our tattoo artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

We get a lot of questions as a shop for tattoos in New York NY, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting regarding pain. We have hard working artists that make sure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there is some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are capable of absorbing a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. This means legs and arms, meaning they’re great alternatives for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
