Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York NY

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area home for decades. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our team of artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York NY

We get a lot of questions as the best tattoos in New York NY, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting regarding pain. Making sure that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. In most cases there is some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This means arms and legs, making them great choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
