Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist NYC

As the best tattoo parlor in NYC, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Making certain that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. It usually does hurt, but the body also releases endorphins to make up for it. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Areas where you’ve got more muscle can absorb a needle better, meaning they generally experience less pain. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re excellent alternatives for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The one choice you’re going to need for your choice for the best tattoos in New York City is Rising Dragon because of this.
