Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep coming back:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom design is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in New York NY, but among the most common is what you can expect regarding pain. Our artists work hard to ensure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood thinners
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Making sure you have a good meal

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. In the majority of cases there’s pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Less pain is generally experienced in areas where you have more muscle. This is because they’ve got a better ability to absorb a needle. This means legs and arms, meaning they’re great alternatives for your first tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
