Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.
