Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Our studio has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village home since 1992. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As a shop for tattoos in New York City, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Making certain that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood thinners

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Different body parts additionally have different ability to tolerate pain. Generally areas where you have more muscle have less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This means arms and legs, making them great choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to require for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
