Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: The artists at Rising Dragon have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As a shop for tattoos in New York City, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that make certain customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. It usually does hurt, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle have less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are great options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
