Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York City

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area home since 1992. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our artists at Rising Dragon bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

As a tattoo shop in New York NY, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. It typically does hurt, but the body also releases endorphins to compensate. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, arms and legs are great options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
