Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom design is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York NY

We get a lot of questions as the best tattoo artist in New York NY, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting concerning pain. Our artists don’t just perform amazing work but also work hard to make sure the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience with these steps. There’s usually some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle can absorb a needle better, which means they typically experience less pain. This is the reason arms and legs are excellent choices if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to require for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
