Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As a tattoo shop in New York City, among the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists don’t just perform incredible work but also work hard to ensure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you have more muscle can absorb a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, legs and arms are great options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
