Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos NYC

As a shop for tattoos in NYC, among the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Keep hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there is some degree of pain, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Different parts of the body additionally have different ability to tolerate pain. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle have less pain since they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, legs and arms are great choices for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you’ll require for the best tattoo artist in New York City is Rising Dragon because of this.
