Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos NYC

As the best tattoo shop in New York NY, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Our artists don’t just perform amazing work but also work hard to make certain the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. There are additionally things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Keep hydrated
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience with these steps. In most cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, meaning they generally experience less pain. This is why legs and arms are excellent options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
