Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Our studio has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village its home for decades. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As a shop for tattoos in New York City, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are additionally things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there’s some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, legs and arms are great options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will require for the best tattoo parlor in Manhattan NY.
