Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area its home since 1992. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep coming back:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in New York NY, but among the most common is what you can expect when it comes to pain. Our artists don’t just perform incredible work but additionally work hard to make sure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Stay hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. In most cases there is pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Areas where you have more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, which means they generally experience less pain. This means arms and legs, making them great alternatives for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
