Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Questions concerning what you’re capable of excepting when it comes to pain are what we get often as a shop for tattoos in New York City. Our artists work hard to make certain customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Stay hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you have more muscle have less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This is the reason arms and legs are excellent choices if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
