Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Our studio has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village home since 1992. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom design is hand drawn, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

As a shop for tattoos in NYC, among the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make sure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Keep hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. There’s usually some pain involved, but the body also releases endorphins to compensate. Different parts of the body also have different ability to tolerate pain. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they’ve got a better ability to absorb a needle. This means legs and arms, meaning they’re excellent alternatives for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The one choice you’ll require for the best tattoo parlor in Manhattan NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
