Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York City

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

We get a large number of questions as the best tattoo shop in New York NY, but among the most common is what to expect regarding pain. Our artists don’t just perform amazing work but also work hard to make certain the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Keep hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners

Your tattoo will be a much easier experience by following these steps. In most cases there is some degree of pain, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are capable of absorbing a needle better, which means they typically experience less pain. This means legs and arms, making them great choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll require for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
