Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As a tattoo shop in NYC, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that make sure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol

Following these steps is capable of leading to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. There’s typically some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, legs and arms are perfect options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll require for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
