Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

Our studio has called the Chelsea and West Village area its home since 1992. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our artists at Rising Dragon have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Questions regarding what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in NYC. Our artists work hard to make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Your tattoo will be a much easier experience with these steps. There’s typically some pain involved, but the body also releases endorphins to make up for it. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re excellent choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The only choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
