Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

Since 1992, our studio has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions concerning what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a shop for tattoos in New York NY. Our artists work hard to ensure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are additionally things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, such as:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, legs and arms are excellent options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
