Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The artists at Rising Dragon have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

We get a large number of questions as a shop for tattoos in NYC, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting regarding pain. Ensuring that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Staying away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

Following these steps is capable of leading to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there is pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, which means they generally experience less pain. This means legs and arms, making them great choices for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in New York City.
