Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The artists at Rising Dragon bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.
