Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our team of artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York City

As the best tattoo shop in New York NY, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Making sure that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are dedicated to. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, such as:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. It typically does hurt, but the body additionally releases endorphins to compensate. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Areas where you have more muscle are capable of absorbing a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. This means arms and legs, making them excellent alternatives for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo shop in Manhattan NY.
