Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

For decades, our studio has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The artists at Rising Dragon bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York City

We get a large number of questions as the best tattoo artist in New York NY, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting when it comes to pain. Making sure that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different body parts also have different ability to tolerate pain. Generally areas where you have more muscle have less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This is the reason arms and legs are great options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll need for your choice for the best tattoos in Manhattan NY.
