Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

Our studio has made the border of Chelsea and the West Village home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Questions concerning what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in New York City. Our artists don’t simply perform incredible work but additionally work hard to ensure the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience with these steps. There’s typically some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, which means they typically experience less pain. This is why arms and legs are perfect options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
