Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York NY

Rising Dragon has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village its home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos Manhattan NY

As a shop for tattoos in New York NY, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Making sure you have a good meal

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience by following these steps. There’s usually some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to compensate. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you have more muscle are capable of absorbing a needle better, meaning they generally experience less pain. This is why legs and arms are excellent options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
