Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Questions regarding what kind of pain you’re capable of expecting are what we get often as the best tattoo shop in New York NY. Making certain that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Stay hydrated
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keeping away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you have more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, arms and legs are excellent options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
