Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York City

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos Manhattan NY

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in NYC, but among the most common is what to expect concerning pain. We have hard working artists that make certain customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience with these steps. It typically does hurt, but endorphins are additionally released by the body to make up for it. Different parts of the body also have different ability to tolerate pain. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle have less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re great choices for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to require for the best tattoo parlor in New York City.
