Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our artists at Rising Dragon bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

  • Stay hydrated
  • Staying away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In the majority of cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different parts of the body as well.
