Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, our studio has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our artists at Rising Dragon have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos NYC

As a shop for tattoos in New York City, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make sure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood thinners
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Stay hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there is pain involved, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different body parts also have different ability to tolerate pain. Typically areas where you have more muscle are subject to less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This is the reason arms and legs are great choices if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
