Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in NYC, but among the most common is what to expect when it comes to pain. Our artists don’t just perform amazing work but also work hard to ensure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Stay hydrated
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keeping away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol

Your tattoo will be a much easier experience by following these steps. There’s usually some pain involved, but endorphins are additionally released by the body to make up for it. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are perfect choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
