Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom design is hand drawn, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos Manhattan NY

As the best tattoo shop in New York NY, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there’s pain involved, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Typically areas where you have more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, arms and legs are excellent options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The one choice you’ll require for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
