Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Our studio has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village its home since 1992. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As a shop for tattoos in New York NY, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. There are additionally things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Keep hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Staying away from blood thinners and alcohol

Your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience with these steps. In the majority of cases there is some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different body parts also have different tolerances for pain. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. This means legs and arms, meaning they’re great options for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The only choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
