Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist NYC

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in New York City, but among the most common is what you can expect when it comes to pain. Making certain that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood thinners

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. There’s typically some pain involved, but the body also releases endorphins to make up for it. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different body parts as well. Generally areas where you have more muscle experience less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, legs and arms are great choices for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll require for your choice for the best tattoos in Manhattan NY.
