Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions concerning what you can expect in terms of pain are what we get often as the best tattoo parlor in NYC. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Making sure you have a good meal

Following these steps is capable of leading to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there is pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Typically areas where you have more muscle have less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This is why legs and arms are great options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The only choice you will require for the best tattoo shop in New York NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
