Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is hand drawn, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As the best tattoo parlor in New York NY, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make certain customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood thinners
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience with these steps. In the majority of cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, legs and arms are perfect options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to require for the best tattoo shop in NYC.
