Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York City

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

We get a lot of questions as a shop for tattoos in New York NY, but among the most common is what to expect when it comes to pain. Our artists don’t simply perform incredible work but also work hard to make certain the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there’s some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different body parts also have different tolerances for pain. Less pain is generally experienced in areas where you have more muscle. This is because they have a better ability to absorb a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, legs and arms are excellent choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will require for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
