Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York City

As a shop for tattoos in New York NY, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Keep hydrated
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood thinners

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different body parts additionally have different tolerances for pain. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle have less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This is why legs and arms are great choices if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY.
