Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Since 1992, our studio has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As a shop for tattoos in NYC, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that make certain customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Stay hydrated
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Making sure you have a good meal

Following these steps is capable of leading to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In the majority of cases there’s pain involved, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different parts of the body also have different tolerances for pain. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This is the reason arms and legs are perfect options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
