Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The team of artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist NYC

As the best tattoo shop in New York NY, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that ensure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Stay hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different parts of the body also have different tolerances for pain. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, making them excellent choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll require for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
