Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

Our studio has made the border of Chelsea and the West Village its home since 1992. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The artists at Rising Dragon have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Questions regarding what kind of pain you’re capable of expecting are what we get often as a tattoo shop in New York City. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In the majority of cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This is why legs and arms are perfect options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
