Why Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York NY

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area its home since 1992. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As a tattoo shop in NYC, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Making certain that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Your tattoo is going to be a much less stressful experience with these steps. In the majority of cases there is pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different parts of the body additionally have different ability to tolerate pain. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are capable of absorbing a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, legs and arms are excellent choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
