Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, our studio has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos NYC

As a tattoo shop in New York City, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are dedicated to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Having a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. There’s typically some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you have more muscle experience less pain as they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This is why legs and arms are perfect choices if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
