Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in Manhattan NY

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in New York NY, but among the most common is what you can expect concerning pain. Our artists don’t just perform incredible work but also work hard to make sure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. There’s usually some pain involved, but the body also releases endorphins to compensate. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you have more muscle. This is because they have a better ability to absorb a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are great options for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
