Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions concerning what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in NYC. We have hard working artists that make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are additionally things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different body parts as well. Typically areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, making them excellent options for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
