Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

For decades, Rising Dragon has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As the best tattoo artist in New York NY, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Making sure that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are dedicated to. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Having a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different body parts as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. This is why legs and arms are excellent options if this is your first time getting a tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
