Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The team of artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions concerning what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in NYC. Our artists don’t just perform incredible work but additionally work hard to ensure the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. There are additionally things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. There’s typically some pain involved, but the body additionally releases endorphins to make up for it. Different parts of the body also have different ability to tolerate pain. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re great options for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
