Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Rising Dragon has made the border of Chelsea and the West Village its home for decades. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

As a tattoo shop in NYC, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that ensure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. There are also things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body, including:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. It typically does hurt, but endorphins are also released by the body to compensate. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you have more muscle experience less pain since they can absorb a needle better. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re great choices for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
